The Conference’s key Highlights Include:

  • Delving into 16 academic sessions covering diverse topics related to Odia language, literature, and cultural heritage. A dedicated session on Jagannath Consciousness and another on future prospects and opportunities for the Odia language, titled “Odisha @2036: A Space for Tomorrow.”
  • Participation of renowned international scholars such as Padmashree Prof. Herman Kulke, Prof. Uwe Skoda, Prof. Arlo Griffiths, Prof. Annette Achmiedchen, alongside nationally acclaimed scholars.
  • Recognition of Dr. Debiprasanna Pattanayak with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant contributions to Odia Language and Linguistics.
  • Felicitation of Jnanpith Award winners, Padma Awardees, Sahitya Academy Awardees, Kabir Samman Awardees, and recipients of the highest State Academy Awards.
  • A curated exhibition showcasing Odisha’s rich history, transformative present, and aspirational future, organized around themes of Ancient, Medieval, and Modern eras.
  • Highlighting the evolution of the Odia language and script, ancient artifacts, rock edicts, copperplates, palm-leaf manuscripts, Kalinga-style temple architecture, maritime trade, and more.
  • Showcasing the Renaissance of Odia Literature during the Medieval period, along with traditional art, craft, dances, and music traditions.
  • Emphasizing the impact of the printing press on the spread of the Odia language and the role of newspapers, periodicals, and modern thought leaders.
  • Discussing the challenges and initiatives in adapting Odia Language and Script to the fast-changing world, including showcasing the Odia Virtual Academy, plans for Wikipedia and Odia Fonts.
  • A special tribute on February 4th to Utkal Gaurab Madhusudan Das.
  • Promoting reading habits with the “Asa Padhiba” concept through a Mobile Library Bus and Mobile Book Cart for school children and youngsters.
  • Commemorating past personalities through busts, paintings, and displaying Odia signatures.
  • Inaugurating a commemorative postal stamp by the Hon’ble Chief Minister during the conference’s inaugural session.
  • Enhancing children’s participation with a DAKK Room and Information Kiosk at the exhibition.
